Residents of the New York City neighborhood of Astoria are complaining about ongoing street parties that have run into the early hours of the morning, in apparent disregard for social distancing measures.
This video, posted early in the morning on July 18, shows revelers atop an ice cream truck on Steinway Street. Parties on previous nights similarly disturbed residents, who complained of smoke from motorcycles and quad bikes, fireworks, and a lack of social distancing.
Locals took to Twitter “again” on Friday night to voice their displeasure at the gatherings.
The street parties come as New York, once the national epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic, has seen case numbers dwindle. On July 17, the state announced a new low in hospitalizations for the virus since infections skyrocketed in March. Credit: Marty Byrde via Storyful
