CBS2's Elise Finch has the latest weather forecast.
ELISE FINCH: So we've had so many great stories this Black History Month, so it's been nice to see. I think what we'll see tomorrow, people will also agree, nice to see.
Today, well, this noon, we've got more of the clouds and, for some, some light rain. 40 degrees, so temperatures are at least a little milder this noon. Temps ranging from the low 30s to the low 40s, so overall a milder day than what we've seen in days past. 43 degrees is our forecast high for today in the city. That's exactly where we should be according to the National Weather Service.
So temperatures should be in the low 40s by the time we hit our high temperature, and, well, this is what we're seeing. Some rain, certainly on radar. All of it is not necessarily making it to the ground. If where you are, you're saying, I'm not seeing anything yet, you may not. It's not a huge rain event, but we are seeing some rain in New York City pushing its way onto Long Island.
As we widen out here the view, you can see that obviously as we head North we get some mixing, but then far enough North and West we're seeing all snow. Pretty light snow, so it's not going to be the situation that we saw yesterday where some locations picked up 4 or 5 inches. That's not what we're expecting. You can see it's a fairly small event. It'll be done in a couple of hours, so for the most part light rain showers, light snow showers. That's what we deal with today.
As we head into tomorrow, high pressure, and the circulation around that high pressure will really tap into some much milder air, so it'll be feeling a little bit like March out there tomorrow. And we'll get that with some sunshine/ a little bit cooler for Thursday, but still warmer than what is considered normal.
For tomorrow we are expecting a high temperature of 50 degrees, so very nice for February. If we hit that 50, it'll put us 7 degrees above what the National Weather Service considers normal or average, and this is a normal temperature for March 18th. That's what we're expecting it to feel like around here tomorrow. Of course, we have to get there.
So today we go through the passing showers, some rain, some snow. Depends on where you are, obviously. Interior sections of the tri-state area will see some snow showers where it's cold enough to support that. For the rest of us, it's either a mix of snow and rain or plain rain. 43 degrees the forecast high for today in New York City.
We do get some clearing later this afternoon, and, hopefully, where you are you'll see enough clearing by the time the sun sets that you'll actually see some sunshine. Certainly we get more significant clearing tonight as we dip down to 36 degrees in the city.
And then you take a look at your seven-day forecast, we're at 43 degrees today. 50 tomorrow and still in the low and mid 40s for Thursday and Friday. Chris?
- OK, Elise, thank you so much.
