Young hockey fan with rare disease surprised with tickets
A young St. Louis Blues fan battling a rare disease was brought to tears when she found out she was going to see her team play in person.
Laila Anderson's mom surprised her with tickets to Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals, according to KSDK. The reaction from the well-deserving child was, well, priceless.
In September, Anderson, 11, was diagnosed with HLH or hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis. It's something only 14 other people in the world have been diagnosed with.
The illness is typically seen in infants and young children, according to John Hopkins Medicine. The disease occurs when certain white blood cells attack others, which later collect in a patient's spleen and liver and causes his or her organs to enlarge.
For the past four months, Anderson had only been able to go from her home to the hospital and back. But when her mom surprised her by telling her that she was going to the Blues game, she could only muster a few words.
"Oh mom are you kidding me?" Anderson cried.
Clearly, going to see "her boys" play in person was a dream come true.
