Young, Miller help lead Lancaster to PBL Championship

The Lancaster Thunder are the 2022 Premier Basketball League champions and former area high school standouts Braden Young and Cameron Miller had a hand in the title.

Lancaster, the East Division Champions, took on the Midwest Division Champions, Chicago Ballers for the title and came out victorious, 114-110.

It was a hard-fought battle which saw Chicago leading at the end of the third quarter, 87-77.

Young, a former New Philadelphia standout, provided the crowd with a great fourth-quarter performance and was named Player of the Game.

Young was 5-of-5 from the field and 6-of-8 at the free-throw line to score 17 of his 29 points and lead all scorers.

Young scored nine of the first 11 points to tie the game at 89. The Thunder went on a 17-2 run to take a 94-89 lead. The game was tied at 107 with a minute to go.

Young hit his final four foul shots to keep Lancaster ahead through the end of the game.

Miller of Sugarcreek provided some much need points in the first half by knocking down two-big 3-point shots. Miller ended the game with seven points and six rebounds.

Jae Williams, Lancaster's season leading scorer, had 21 points and was also named the league MVP.
