Among the players in the Shrewsbury High golf lineup are senior captain Luke Reardon, 18, and 14-year-old freshman Brendan McDonough.

“We both have learned a lot this season,” said Reardon, who played many rounds of golf at different Cape Cod courses last summer in preparation for the season in between his working hours at Ocean State Job Lot in Dennis.

“I’ve continued to get better since my freshman year when I was scoring in the mid to high 50s,” said Reardon, who has dropped his average to the low 40s.

Reardon and McDonough both credit their coach, Jack Gale for valuable help with their short games.

“We are both much better at getting out of bunkers now,” said Reardon.

McDonough, along with his cousin, Jack McDonough, won the Junior Four Ball at Braintree Golf last July, carding rounds of 2 and 5 under par.

Although wins this season have been few, the Colonials, will continue to improve as their younger players gain more match experience. At the top of the lineup are sophomore Syed Noorwez, freshman Ryan Kelley and sophomore Brandon Park.

“We have three freshman who made varsity and four on the junior varsity, so we’re encouraged by that, and hopeful for the future,” said Gale, a PGA teaching pro, now in his eighth season with the Colonials.

Seniors Bennett Cooper and Reardon play in spots four and five, followed by sophomore Matt Raffi.
