Get your fill of food and fun at the Taste of Charlotte festival on Tryon Street in Uptown. The event, which kicks off Friday and runs through Sunday, features Charlotte-area restaurants offering samples, along with a mix of family entertainment, shopping, live music, and activities for kids.

Enjoy inflatables, games, live music and other activities at the 2nd Friday Street Festival series at Oak Street Mill in Cornelius.

Listen to live music at the Rock’n & Reel’n summer concert and movie series on Friday at Pineville Lake Park.

Grab your roller skates and enjoy family-friendly festivities with a Charlotte landmark as your backdrop at the Summer Skate Jam on Friday at the Metalmorphosis sculpture at Whitehall Corporate Center.

Grab a blanket or chair and watch a movie under the stars on Friday at Fountain Park in Rock Hill where “DC League of SuperPets” will be showing or Veterans Park in Huntersville where you can see “The Little Mermaid” (1989).

Burn some calories for a good cause during the 4th annual Burpee-A-Thon at S3 CrossFit in Fort Mil on Friday. Proceeds will benefit the nonprofit group Racing for ALS.

Sports fans can check out the Premier Lacrosse League games on Friday and Saturday at American Legion Memorial Stadium.

The 2nd Saturday in the Park festival returns to Statesville this weekend where you’ll find live music, food, craft brews, a kids’ zone, and more than 30 fine artists exhibiting their work at Martin Luther King Jr. Park.

Play games, see vintage cars, grab a bite from a food truck, and shop from local vendors at the Festival on The Green at the North Carolina Research Campus in Kannapolis on Saturday.

Shop local and enjoy live music at the Markets at 11 on Saturday at Ballantyne’s Backyard.

Want to stay cool this weekend with an indoor activity? Head to the Museum of York County to see its latest exhibit “Storyland: A Trip Through Childhood Favorites.” The exhibition transforms seven beloved books into 3-D play and bilingual learning environments.
