"Any space can benefit from a touch of glamour," says Paloma Contreras. Luckily for believers in this statement-and fans of the Houston-based blogger-turned-designer-it's now easier than ever to incorporate Contreras's style into your home, thanks to her new collection for Williams Sonoma Home. The line, which includes lighting, accessories, and bedding, showcases Contreras's traditional-meets-modern sensibility.

"I would never say any project I do is 100 percent modern or 100 percent traditional," the designer tells House Beautiful. "It’s all about layering and coming up with something that feels like it was assembled over time." So, it makes sense that her new line invites homeowners to do the same kind of layering. Still unsure how to go about it? You're in luck: Contreras selected some of her favorite pieces from the collection and styled them-exclusively for House Beautiful-in her own home. Take notes.

"It’s for anyone who wants to add a bit of style and personality to their space," Contreras explains of the line. "Each piece makes a statement on its own, but they work really nicely together as well. So you can mix and match."

In her dining room, Contreras hung her Sweetzer chandelier over a table from Bunny Williams Home and vintage André Arbus chairs she bought in France. "In here, the real focus is the chandelier, which can go either modern or traditional," she explains. Though the table and chairs have classic shapes, their light finishes (a trend we're seeing more and more) make them feel more modern. "These finishes are more natural, but the reason it all works together is that even though the finishes on these are natural, the shapes are classic, and so there’s more formality there."

In the bedroom, Contreras's penchant for mixing old and new is on full display. " There are a lot of shapes, or motifs, or themes that are very emblematic of my favorite elements of classic design," she says. For example, "we did our own version of a Greek key pattern on our appliqué bedding"-the first appliqué Williams Sonoma has ever created. The bedding looks right at home in Contreras's bedroom, where an antique mirror contrasts with a more modern piece of art.

"Art is a huge part of the equation for me," says the designer. "I’m really passionate about supporting artists or finding pieces that speak to me on my travels." For those feeling overwhelmed at the prospect of amassing a collection, Contreras encourages you to think outside the box (or gallery): "You just have to look everywhere," she says. "One very fruitful place to look for art is Instagram. There are so many up-and-coming artists showing on Instagram, and if you find them before they blow up, you can get great original art at a great price point."

Another great source? "Go to flea markets and vintage fairs. Look around, you might find something great. Maybe it has to be reframed or maybe you find a fabulous frame and you mix and match. If you look around, you can find great things at any price point," she assures.

The collection's black-and-white accessories are an easy way to add immediate interest to any style room. "You can have every piece of furniture in a room, but if you don't have accessories, you’ll just feel like you’re in a furniture showroom," says the designer. "You need books, objects, art, photos, to tie the bigger pieces together and give the space some personality-to bring it to life."

The black-and-white palette was made to be super versatile. "I wanted it to be really interchangeable with one another, versatile for anyone to use," the designer says." But also, "They're really colors that I love and use a lot." Designers, they're just like us.
