You’re More Likely To Die From A Selfie Than A Shark Attack
They are some of the most feared creatures in the ocean - but it turns out that we’re less likely die from a shark attack than we are from taking a selfie.
The unusual stat was discovered by analyst Zachary Crockett and comes after a spate of selfie related deaths, including a tourist who fell down the steps of the Taj Mahal, and an Russian teenager who was electrocuted.
Zachary trawled through a series of statistics, and found that 49 people have died from selfies since 2014 - with 75 percent of those being men.
Most of those deaths involved falling from a great height, but others included death by gunshot, train and plane crash.
That’s in total contrast to just EIGHT shark attack deaths last year.
Maybe a certain Steven Spielberg film isn’t so terrifying after all.
