YOUTH GOLF: Eberle qualifies for USGA Girls Junior

Jun. 11—Elizabeth Eberle has qualified for one of the most prestigious junior golf tournament in the country.

The Madison Central standout will compete in the 73rd-annual USGA Girls National Championship, which is scheduled for July 18 through 23 at The Club at Olde Stone in Bowling Green.

Eberle earned a spot in the event with a great performance on Thursday in qualifying event in Columbus, Ind. She shot a +2, 74, and finished in a five-way tie for the leader. Only the top three finishers moved on to the national event.

A playoff was required to determine who would advance.

Eberle birdied the first extra hole and was the first person to secure a spot in the USGA Junior.

The one-day, 18-hole event was held at Otter Creek Country Club.

Eberle had a birdie on No. 6, then carded a bogey on No. 9. On the back nine, she double-bogeyed No. 10, birdied No. 11, then had a bogey on No. 12.

The other two golfers to move on to the national from the Columbus, Ind., event were Gianna Clemente and Kynadie Adams.
