Youths attend paranormal camp

Jul. 28—SOS Paranormal of Schuylkill County hosted its SOS Teen Paranormal Camp from June 26-30 for youths ages 12 through 17.

The campers learn how to safely and properly investigate paranormal activity and how to use equipment. They traveled to several active and historical locations for each day of camp and also got to meet reputable people in the field who shared their experiences.

The first day of camp was spent at Muhammad Ali's training camp, Fighter's Heaven, near Deer Lake. Mick Stefanek, the facility's general manager, showed the kids around and shared the camp's history.

Campers spent the second day at the historic Hoover House in Waynesboro, which is owned by Pam and Steve Barry. Andy Andrews also taught campers techniques that they can use on-site.

Day three was spent at Pennhurst Asylum in Spring City. Campers were given a tour by Mackenzie Werner, who shared the asylum's history and her experiences in investigating the site.

On the camp's final day, the youths traveled to the Haunted Shanley Hotel in Napanoch, New York.

Kelly Miller, "The Maven Medium," spent a majority of the week with the campers and taught them ways to protect themselves.
