Yungblud told his ACL Fest crowd to jump and they asked 'How high?'

Yungblud had so much to tell us at weekend two of Austin City Limits Music Festival on Sunday.

"Jump!"

He really, really wanted us to jump. He never stopped telling us to jump. He's probably back at his hotel or trailer or plane telling the people there to jump. "Jump! Jump! Jump," he shouted in between his lyrics. The crowd obeyed every time. When he asked that they lift their pinkies into the air before jumping, they did as they were told. Are the pinkies a Yungblud thing? Can someone let us know?

Yungblud, who is led by Dominic Harrison, a 25-year-old from Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England, took the 2 p.m. slot Sunday afternoon at the American Express stage. It was so hot. If we were not still recovering from the heat, we'd come up with a better way to explain how hot it was. It was just really hot.

But that didn't stop Harrison or the crowd from having an absolutely amazing time. From the minute Harrison hit the stage, the energy was at 100 percent and never fell. He sprinted from one side of the stage to the other. He stuck his tongue out. He licked his lips. He sucked his thumb. He was very charismatic.

"I (expletive) love Texas, mate," Harrison told the crowd.

The set was all pop punk with a little bit of rap thrown in. He screamed.

"Are you going to (expletive) jump with me, Austin," he asked, again.

He opened with "Funeral," "superdeadfriends," and "Parents." He placed his hand over his heart with pride and surprise when the crowd sang the lyrics to "Fleabag" without him leading the way. He gyrated right into the camera many, many times. (All hail the people who work ACL Fest.) He threw his mic stand twice and a guitar once.

"Austin, are you awake," he asked.

We really were. He demanded a mosh pit and a mosh pit the crowd gave. He shushed the crowd and the field went silent. He lifted his hand in the air and they screamed. He shushed again, quiet. Hand back up, loud. This went on for a minute, with him pretending to dribble a basketball, quiet, and him shooting the basketball, loud.

This writer went into the Yungblud show as a Yungblud newbie and came out an admirer. He gave a great show and ended 10 minutes early, giving us plenty of time to cool off before the next set.
