More news has been revealed about Anderson .Paak’s K-POPS!.

The upcoming film also produced by Paak along with Stampede Ventures. Rapper Dumbfoundead (aka Jonnie Park) and Yvette Nicole Brown will also star.

The film focuses on a Los Angeles-based musician whose career has seen better days. But after going to Seoul to try his hand at becoming a K-Pop star, he realizes he has a chance at something better–reconnecting with his son.

According to the description:

K-POPS! is about a washed-up musician from Los Angeles who attempts to reinvigorate his career by joining the band for a K-Pop competition show in Seoul and discovers that his long-lost son has the chance to front one of the country’s hottest new groups. He jumps at the opportunity to capitalize on his son’s stardom for his own renaissance but learns that fatherhood is much more fulfilling and meaningful.

Live Nation Productions and Stampede Ventures talked about how they feel to work on the project.

“Anderson .Paak is an exceptional storyteller and creative talent, and we’re looking forward to supporting him as he steps out for his directorial debut,” said Live Nation Productions’ head of production and development Ryan Kroft in a statement.

Stampede Ventures president Chris Bosco added, “K-POPS! is a prime example of what Stampede is all about. We develop, package, physically produce and finance the film, creating a 360 degree approach to franchising the brand beyond just the movie, including music and cross-promotional opportunities for the brand. We are thrilled to have Live Nation Productions as a strategic partner and investor in the project.”

Stampede Ventures’ Greg Silverman and Jon Berg with produce with EST Studios’ Jaeson Ma. .Paak will produce via his company APESHIT Films, and Park will also produce via his production company Big Dummie. Khalia Amazan will executive produce with Stampede Ventures’ Gideon Yu, Bosco and Grant Torre as well as Tadross and EST Studios’ Eric Tu.

Other additions to the film’s production team include Former Paramount exec Michael Tadross, who has been hired to lead the film’s physical production, and Live Nation Productions, which has provided an equity investment for the film’s production and will take part as a strategic partner.

Principal photography is set to begin Oct. 30 in Los Angeles, with additional filming in South Korea and AlUla, the latter of which is described as a “historic and culturally significant region” of Saudi Arabia and scouted through The Royal Commission’s film agency, Film AlUla.
