In anticipation of award-winning actress Geena Davis' upcoming visit to El Paso, the YWCA will have a special screening of "A League of Their Own."

The popular film based on the real-life All-American Girls Professional Baseball League during World War II will be featured at 6 p.m. April 18 at the Alamo Drafthouse Montecillo on the West Side.

Davis will be the keynote speaker of the 28th Annual Women’s Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. April 27 at the El Paso convention center.

She is an Academy and Golden Globe award-winning actress who has advocated and worked for greater gender equity in Hollywood and other fields. She is the founder of the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media and received the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award in 2019.

"Geena’s commitment to empowering women, gender equity, and humanitarian causes makes her the perfect speaker for YWCA’s 28th Annual Women’s Luncheon," a YWCA news release said.

Tickets for the movie screening are $20, available at Eventbrite.com. Luncheon tickets, at $100 each, still are available at https://bit.ly/3zQIA0g.
