Colorado Rockies top prospect and former Spruce Creek High baseball star Zac Veen was selected Thursday to participate in the MLB Futures Game.

Veen, 20, was named Gatorade Florida Baseball Player of the Year during a COVID-shortened senior season in 2020. The Rockies then selected him ninth overall, making him the highest draft pick ever out of a Volusia-Flagler-St. Johns high school.

Through 71 games this season for High-A Spokane, Veen is batting .268 with an .841 OPS. He has added 10 home runs, 49 RBIs, 53 runs scored, 40 walks and 33 stolen bases.

According to MLB Pipeline, Veen is ranked 23rd among all prospects in baseball, and No. 1 in Colorado's farm system.

The Futures Game, a seven-inning interleague exhibition featuring the game's top young stars, is scheduled for 7 p.m. on July 16 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. Peacock and Sirius XM will broadcast the game live, and MLB Network will re-air it starting at 9 a.m. Sunday, July 17.
