Zane Trace Players will serve as guides for those looking for ghosts

ZANESVILLE − Expect the unexpected as the Zane Trace Players take you around downtown to scope out specters. Ghost walks are set to return for spooky season starting on Friday. The tours will run every Friday and Saturday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. all through October.

The ghost tours are a historic walk through a section of downtown Zanesville that will highlight murder mysteries and stories of present-day tragedies. The tours will last around 90 minutes and will begin and end at the Secrest Auditorium.

"It's nice to see people who are not from Zanesville, who've never been here and just heard of this on a whim and seeing them listening so intently and getting really into it is so fun," said Christy Rahrig, ghost guide coordinator and board member for the Renner.

One of the most exciting parts of the tours to Christy is seeing the excitement increase towards the end as people explain what they felt or saw along the way.

A couple of stops to look forward to are the Muskingum County Courthouse, city hall and the Y Bridge.

The tours were on hiatus for 10 years before being recently brought back. They are now running for the third consecutive with the help of the Zane Trace Players. The guides are a part of the Renner Theatre and the tours act as a fundraiser to help keep local, community theater up and running.

"I just like that people are curious about the unknown and are willing to explore that with us for one evening," Christy said.

The tour cost is $15. For more information, call 740-455-8282 ext. 108.
