Russian forces are continuing to fortify temporarily occupied settlements around Zaporizhzhya, the Mayor of Melitopol, Ivan Fedoriv, reported on Dec. 23.

“Tokmak is already surrounded by the rodent holes of the occupiers from all sides,” wrote Fedoriv on Telegram.

Enemy trenches are under construction towards Melitopol from both Crimea and Vasylivka, he added, noting that the Russians had upgraded their defense lines to “solid fortifications.”

“The Kremlin dictator (Vladimir Putin) has chosen Hitler’s tactics and is trying to build a defense along the Wotan line,” Federov said, referring to the Panther-Woten defense line in the same region, constructed by Nazi German forces during the Second World War.

"However, the Nazis couldn’t hold back then, and the Rashists (Russian fascists) won’t succeed now.”

An explosion occurred near a school in Melitopol on Dec. 19, injuring a representative of the occupation “police.”
