Zappos Shoppers Call These Casual Slip-Ons the ‘Most Comfortable’ Shoes

Why is it that the majority of comfortable shoes look like they belong in a geriatric home? Sure, the chunky dad trend is proving to be long-lasting, but clunky sneakers aren’t always the most desirable of options, especially now that getting dressed is a bonafide chore. But it turns out that, among the thousands of shoes sold online at Zappos, the one pair shoppers swear is the most comfortable might actually be the most cool. Don’t believe it? Just ask Cool Girl of the moment, Dakota Johnson. She’s basically never seen not wearing them. (Ok, she also wears adorable $450 slippers, but ya know, they’re $450.)

The comfortable and beloved shoes we’re speaking of are the classic Vans slip-ons. They’ve come a long way from the skate park and are actually a go-to for those who suffer from foot pains (and for Dakota Johnson, whose feet we hope are in stable condition after Suspiria). The sneakers have close to 4,000 reviews, and a good majority of them give a perfect 5-star rating for comfort. They’re so adored that 21,000 Zappos shoppers have hearted them. Other name brand comfy picks from Hoka One One and New Balance don’t even come close to getting that much love on the site.

There’s a pretty clear reason for this: People want comfort and they want function. What’s more functional than a shoe you don’t even have to bend over to get on? It takes longer to watch a TikTok than it does to put these things on. “They are the most comfortable casual shoe,” wrote one five-star reviewer. “You can just slip them on and go.”

“These are not only comfortable but stylish,” wrote one five-star reviewer. “I love that they are so easy to put on and comfortable from the get go.”

When it comes to the vibe these comfy shoes achieve, one shopper put it incredibly: “A comfortable shoe that reminds me that even though I am an upstanding member of society that is part of the rest of the business-casual herd on a weekly basis, on the weekends I am the cool, laid-back guy who learned to love these shoes as a skater, BMXer, and indie rocker. Wearing these shoes helps me forget I'm the kind of guy who has a mortgage. Rad indeed.”

And as Dakota proves, they’re extremely easy to style. You can pair the shoes with everything from sweats to slacks. All retailing for $60 or under, the Vans choices include black leather and a navy denim-resembling canvas, each great for adding some texture to an outfit. They’re easy to throw on without thinking about it, and they can make it look like you carefully planned an ensemble even if you’re in last night’s sweats.

So put those clunky, boring shoes to the side and take a walk on the stylish (but still comfy) side of the road. Shop the Vans Classic Slip-On below:
