New Zealand makes 281-9 in 3rd ODI vs. Australia

HAMILTON, New Zealand (AP) — Ross Taylor posted his 16th one-day international hundred while recalled opener Dean Brownlie completed his maiden half century as New Zealand made 281-9 Sunday in the third and final match of the Chappell-Hadlee series against Australia.

Brownlie, playing his first one-day international in more than two years, finished with 63 after sharing a 100-run third wicket partnership with Taylor, who went on to make 107.

Allrounder Mitchell Santner chipped in with an unbeaten 38 to push the total towards 300 after New Zealand's middle order collapsed following the departure of captain Kane Williamson for 37.

Mitchell Starc and James Faulkner each captured three wickets for the Australians while Josh Hazlewood bagged two wickets as the visitors try to tie the series and retain the Chappell-Hadlee trophy.

New Zealand won the first match in Auckland by six runs but Thursday's second match in Napier on Thursday was abandoned because of rain.
