“I am sure that now the Lend-Lease will help Ukraine and the entire free world beat the ideological successors of the Nazis who started a war against us,” the President stated.

“Lend-lease and other programs in support of Ukraine are concrete proof that freedom is still able to defend itself against tyranny.”

On Apr. 28, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the lend-lease bill for Ukraine with a 417-10 vote. Earlier on Apr. 7, the bill was unanimously approved by the U.S. Senate. Now it is likely to be signed by U.S. President Joe Biden.

The Lend-Lease policy was a program under which the United States provided the Allies with weapons, food, oil and other necessary goods to fight Nazi Germany under a simplified procedure. The Lend-Lease Act passed in March 1941 and remained in effect until the end of World War II (until Sep. 1945). The United States provided this assistance to the United Kingdom and the countries of the British Commonwealth, later to Free France (French Resistance), China, the USSR and other allied states. The aid included warships, aircraft and other weapons.

Lend-Lease is widely seen as heavily contributing to the Allied victory over the Third Reich.
