Zelenskyy is back to Kyiv after his visit to Washington

Zelenskyy left for Washington for an unannounced visit on Dec. 21. It was his first visit abroad since the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. During the visit, he met with U.S. President Joe Biden and delivered a speech to the U.S. Congress. That same day, the U.S. pledged additional military aid for Ukraine, worth $1.85 billion – which includes, for the firs time, Patriot surface-to-air missile systems.

In order to travel to the U.S., Zelenskyy first went to Poland by train, and then flew on further. Ukraine's air forces reported the flight was accompanied by NATO reconnaissance aircraft and an American F-15 fighter jet.
