Zelenskyy and British PM visit Ukrainian soldiers who are training with Challenger tanks

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Rishi Sunak, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, have arrived at a military base Bovington Camp in Dorset County, in the south of England, in order to meet Ukrainian soldiers that are trained by the British army.

Source: Zelenskyy and Sunak have arrived there by helicopter, and they have seen a Challenger 2 tank simulator that will be used for exercises later.

Zelenskyy expressed his gratitude to Sunak for the support before awarding Ukrainian soldiers.

Quote from Sunak: "It is a great honour to have all of you here, and your courage is inspiring to us, and the courage of your families is inspiring to us."

 

Background: In late January, Ukrainian tank crews arrived in the United Kingdom for training with Challenger 2 tanks.

On 15 January, the United Kingdom confirmed its plans to provide Ukraine with a squadron of 14 Challenger 2 tanks and about 30 155 mm AS-90 Self-Propelled Howitzers (SPHs).

Alex Chalk, the British Deputy Defence Minister, expressed his hopes that Challenger 2 tanks would arrive in Ukraine at the end of March.
