Zelenskyy creates council on liberation of Crimea

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree on the creation of an advisory council on the liberation and reintegration of the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.

The Presidential Advisory Council is supposed to be: "Promoting the coordination of measures regarding liberation, reintegration and restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine, protection of the rights and interests of citizens of Ukraine; overcoming the consequences and compensation for damage caused to the Ukrainian state, its citizens and legal entities due to the armed aggression and temporary occupation of part of the territory of Ukraine by the Russian Federation, as well as projects and activities within the framework of the activities of the Crimean Platform".

Details: According to the decree, Andrii Yermak, the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, must submit proposals regarding the composition of this Advisory Council within a month.

The decree takes effect on the day of its publication on 15 August.

The main tasks of the Advisory Council are:

  • preparation of proposals about the priorities of the Council's activities;

  • activities within the framework of the Crimean platform;

  • preparation of proposals to improve the legislation on issues related to the liberation and reintegration of Crimea.

The chairman of the Advisory Council is the president.

The Secretary of the Council is the presidential envoy in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

The Council also includes Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine, Head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Prosecutor General of Ukraine (by consent), ministers, deputy heads of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Head of the Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people (by consent), etc.
