Zelenskyy arrives in Lviv to meet with Latvian president and visit injured soldiers

Zelenskyy and Levits, along with the first ladies of both countries, honored the memory of the Ukrainian soldiers who have been killed fighting the invading Russian forces.
They laid flowers at the graves of Ukrainian defenders at Lviv’s Lychakiv Cemetery.

Zelenskyy also visited injured Ukrainian soldiers in a hospital. Many fought in or around Bakhmut, which is seeing the fiercest fighting of the war so far.

The president expressed his gratitude for their military service and presented them with state awards. Mortar gunners, riflemen, anti-aircraft gunners, grenade launchers, and combat medics received the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, 3rd class, and the Order for Courage, 3rd class.
“I want to thank you for your work, for your service, especially during this year,” the president said. “It was the toughest test for all of us. Thank you for putting back on their feet so many of our fighters, our heroes.”
