The president expressed his gratitude for their military service and presented them with state awards. Mortar gunners, riflemen, anti-aircraft gunners, grenade launchers, and combat medics received the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, 3rd class, and the Order for Courage, 3rd class.

He also presented the Order of Danylo Halytskyi to the medical staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces for providing quality medical care to soldiers. Zelenskyy noted how highly he respects their work.

“I want to thank you for your work, for your service, especially during this year,” the president said. “It was the toughest test for all of us. Thank you for putting back on their feet so many of our fighters, our heroes.”

Zelenskyy was last in Lviv on Jan. 11 to discuss the security situation along the border with Belarus. He met with Polish President Andrzej Duda and Lithuania President Gitanas Nausėda on that visit.
