Zelenskyy to join online G7 summit hosted by Japan

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will participate in an online summit of the Group of Seven (G7) industrialized nations hosted by Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Dec. 6, Japanese news agency Kyodo News reported, citing Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno.

The G7 leaders are expected to discuss Russia's war against Ukraine and the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas. An international comprehensive framework on advanced artificial intelligence is also likely to be high on the agenda.

The G7 countries have been at the forefront of international sanctions against Russia since Moscow’s full-scale aggression, with President Zelenskyy making a surprise appearance at the group’s 49th offline summit in Hiroshima on May 20 to hold talks with Ukraine's main military partners and supporters.
