Zelenskyy to meet with Pope Francis in Rome during official visit

Italian publication Ansa.it reported that Zelenskyy landed at Rome’s Ciampino airport at 10:13 a.m. local time and was greeted by Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.

The visit will begin with a meeting between Zelenskyy and President Mattarella, followed by talks with Prime Minister Meloni and Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani. After 4:00 p.m., the Ukrainian President will meet with Pope Francis, and at 6:30 pm he will visit Italian journalists Bruno Vespa for an interview.

Earlier, German media reported that Zelenskyy would come to Berlin at the invitation of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on May 13. Later, the German news portal T-online, citing sources close to the Ukrainian government, wrote that the Ukrainian authorities were disappointed that the visit had ‘leaked’ to the public. Berlin police announced that they had launched an investigation into the leak.
