Earlier in August, she shared a video on Instagram, asking to sign the petition launched by Ukrainian cultural figures.

“Hello, friends! President Zelenskyy has backed our petition,” Khodos said, citing the president.

“Russian culture is actively used by the propaganda machine of the aggressor state involved in the open large-scale military aggression against Ukraine, crimes against humanity,” reads Zelenskyy’s response.

“And our tasks include the development of a coherent national cultural space, its decolonization, the fight against pro-Russian propaganda, the purge of Russian and Soviet heritage, which anchors Russian propaganda narratives in Ukraine.”

The President added that he forwarded the petition to the prime minister and instructed him to look into ways to address the concerns raised.

Khodos thanked everyone who had signed the petition and said she hopes that that small victory would give strength and faith in a happy future without Russians.

“I’m very grateful to everyone who supported and signed (the petition), who was by my side and showed courage,” the actress said.

“Of course, this is only our first step, but it’s so necessary to realize that we can influence our future when we’re together.”
