Zelenskyy visits Kherson Oblast, promises to rebuild everything

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Kherson Oblast on 23 March, met with residents and promised to restore everything the Russian invaders gradually destroyed.

Quote from Zelenskyy: "A working trip to Kherson Oblast. The village of Posad Pokrovske, where many houses and social infrastructure facilities have been damaged due to Russia's full-scale aggression.

I talked to local residents about their current issues and needs. We will restore and rebuild everything. Just like every town and village that suffered from the occupiers."

Details: The authorities reported that electricity and water supply are being restored in Posad Pokrovske, a medical outpatient clinic is being rebuilt, and people are returning to the village.

Zelenskyy said that Ukraine would try to complete the main work by winter. The priority is to restore electricity to the residents. Meanwhile, drinking water will be supplied on schedule.

Zelenskyy also held a coordination meeting where security issues and the ways to deal with the consequences of the Russian attacks were discussed. The President heard the military command’s report about the operative situation in Kherson Oblast.

In addition to this, Zelenskyy awarded the Ukrainian soldiers defending Kherson Oblast with state awards.

 

In return, the soldiers gave Zelenskyy a watch with the Ukrainian coat of arms and the map of Crimea on it. The watch was made from a part of the trunk of a shot down Russian cannon.

 

Background:

  • On 22 March, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, visited frontline positions of the Ukrainian troops on the Bakhmut front in Donetsk Oblast. The President rewarded the heroes of Ukraine and visited the injured soldiers.

  • During a work visit to Donetsk Oblast, the President held a coordinating meeting dedicated to socio-economic issues and current security situation in the region.

  • On 22 March, Zelenskyy also visited the city of Kharkiv, where he rewarded Ihor Terekhov, Mayor of Kharkiv, with an honourable title "The Hero City of Ukraine".
