Zendaya's Ex Jacob Elordi Posts Belated Message to Her on Emmys Win
Euphoria star Jacob Elordi opted not to be part of the virtual Emmys this weekend or post anything on Instagram about him viewing it in real time. But he did post an Instagram Story congratulating his co-star and ex-girlfriend Zendaya on her historic Emmy win last night, nearly 24 hours after the news was announced. A little late, but still sweet!
It's his first public message to her since he was seen out with his new romantic partner Kaia Gerber last month on Zendaya's birthday, sparking speculation that Zendaya and Elordi privately ended their relationship during the coronavirus pandemic. Gerber and Elordi were photographed on Friday in Los Cabos, Mexico, showing some PDA while on vacation with Gerber's parents Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford.
"Congratulations caption 🖤 @zendaya Bravo 💜" Elordi captioned his IG Story, which features an image of Zendaya from the show as her character Rue. Zendaya won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. She is the youngest woman to do so at age 24.
Elordi and Zendaya were photographed kissing in New York City in February 2020. A source told E! then that "Jacob and Zendaya have been seeing each other for months now. They started as close friends but it became romantic after their show ended."
The source continued, "They have been inseparable since last summer and have been making time for each other in between projects," adding, "Jacob has met Zendaya's family, and everyone adores him. They have a lot of fun together and have a lot in common."
Elordi and Zendaya never confirmed their romantic relationship, but they publicly spoke about how close they are in late 2019 and early 2020.
In January, Zendaya called Elordi her "best friend" when presenting an award to him at the American Australian Association Arts Awards.
Elordi said Zendaya was like family in an interview published in GQ Australia in December 2019. "She’s like my sister," he said. "Zendaya is an amazing creative, you know? She’s super dope to work with. She’s an incredible artist and a very caring person to all of us. But we’re all really close. There is not one weak link in that show. We’ve spent so much time together and everyone is just so cool to work with. Sam Levinson is just a genius and working with him, it was just like electricity all the time. I was in awe. Like a kid in a candy shop.”
