Zenless Zone Zero confirmed to be releasing on PS5

Sony’s first PlayStation State of Play for 2024 kicked off with a bang on Thursday morning (1 February), offering first-look footage and announcements for some of the biggest releases coming to the console in the coming months.

In the 43-minute presentation, several highly anticipated titles such as Death Stranding 2, Silent Hill 2, and more were shown. But among the most exciting reveals was the arrival of HoYoverse’s upcoming action RPG title, Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ), on the PlayStation 5 (PS5).

“Dear citizens, a new route to New Eridu is currently under construction,” Playstation’s YouTube caption wrote. “We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for your support and understanding. We look forward to seeing you in New Eridu!”

“We can’t wait for you to join us in this extraordinary journey. Zenless Zone Zero will be coming to PS5 this year, thank you for your patience and stay tuned for more updates, we look forward to talking to you again,” a follow-up post by Zhenyu Li, the producer of Zenless Zone Zero wrote on the PlayStation blog.

The narrative of ZZZ unfolds in a world where modern civilization succumbed to a supernatural catastrophe known as the Hollows.

Amid the ruins, New Eridu stands as the last bastion, thriving by harnessing technology to extract valuable resources from the Hollows. Yet, perilous monsters roam within, and only a select group known as Agents, possessing resistance to Hollow corruption, can venture inside.

Players step into the shoes of a Proxy, a seasoned professional guiding these Agents through their exploration of the treacherous Hollows.

There’s a lot to be excited about in the game, especially after we’ve got a taste of the gameplay during ZZZ’s 2nd closed beta.

ZZZ is HoYoverse’s take on roguelikes (although it’s more like a rogue-lite), with an impressively fluid, and fast-paced combat system that’s sure to give players a rush of adrenaline when exploring the Hollows.

And with 15 playable characters revealed so far, there are a ton of team compositions and move sets combinations that players can pull off.

HoYoverse confirmed back in the Tokyo Games Show 2023 that ZZZ will be coming out on PC, mobile and console, and while the first two closed beta tests involved both PC and mobile, this is the first time that the PS5 port had been revealed.

This comes a few months after another popular Honkai: Star Rail was announced to have a PS5 port soon.

ZZZ is set to release later this year on PC, iOS, Android, and PS5.
