Zimmerman up big in race for 99th state House District

Nov. 9—State Rep. David Zimmerman appears poised to keep his seat.

Zimmerman, 66, a Lancaster County Republican, leads his Democratic competitor in the race for the 99th state House District by a more-than 2-to-1 margin based on election results posted Wednesday morning.

According to incomplete and unofficial vote totals, Zimmerman received 17,994 votes. Political newcomer Joshua Caltagirone, 30, of Mohnton received 7,146 votes.

Vote totals may not include all mail and provisional ballots. The election is official when the results are certified.

The district includes part of northern Lancaster County and Brecknock Township and Mohnton as well as parts of Spring and Cumru townships in Berks County.

The race was a bit closer in Berks, with Zimmerman earning 4,500 votes to Caltagirone's 3,011. In Lancaster Zimmerman leads by a 3-to-1 margin at 13,494 to 4,135.

Zimmerman has represented the district since 2014. Prior to that, he worked for an international agricultural company as a sales manager for seven states on the East Coast.
