Marlington High School will celebrate its fall homecoming this weekend, with a home football game against Minerva. The school’s dance will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at Moulin Community Center in Lexington Township.

Marlington’s Class of 2026 is sponsoring the event under the direction of class advisers Bethany Fetrow and Diane Mitchell. Theme of the dance is “Bring Back the Disco.”

The 2023 Duchess and Duke are juniors Zoë Mort and Dylan Heatherington. The students were chosen by fall varsity athletes to represent Marlington High School.

Mort, the daughter of Carl and Kitty Mort, is a co-captain on the varsity golf and basketball teams, and a Duke Crew leader, member of Character Counts Club and in Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Heatherington, son of Eric and Bekah Heatherington, is a member of the varsity basketball and baseball teams.

The 2022 retiring Duchess and Duke are seniors Stella Blake and Ty Knoch. Blake, the daughter of William and Jennifer Blake, is in varsity cross country, track and sideline cheer teams; a member of National Honor Society, Character Counts Club, and a stats girl for the wrestling team. She also is the 2023 Greater Alliance Carnation Queen and Miss Congeniality and Stark County Fair queen second runner-up. Knoch, the son of Joe and Becky Knoch, is in varsity football, basketball and track.

Seniors

Gia Baum and Qwintin Hancox – Baum, daughter of Shana Pilla-Baum and Justin Baum, is a captain on the varsity sideline and competition cheer teams, and a member of the cosmetology career tech program at Alliance High School. Hancox, son of Stephen and Krystal Hancox, and Heather Vance, is in varsity football and wrestling, and a member of the cosmetology career tech program at Alliance High School.

Juniors

Reese Marvin and TreyVion Wheeler-Fisher – Marvin, daughter of Josh and Angie Marvin, is a member of the softball and sideline cheerleading teams, and Drama Dukes, Duchess Voices and Marlington Chorale. She also is in Duke Crew, Character Counts and Alliance-Marlington softball league. Wheeler-Fisher, son of Erica Wheeler, is in varsity football and the Interactive Media career tech program at Alliance High School.

Sophomores

Ava Baum and Braxton Gill – Baum, the daughter of Shana Pilla-Baum and Justin Baum, is in softball, Character Counts and ROX. Gill, son of Melissa Martin, is in soccer, Duke Street and Marlington Chorale.

Freshmen

Kadence Bernard and Riley Shannon – Bernard, daughter of Dave and Holly Bernard, is in sideline and competition cheerleading teams and track, and Character Counts. Shannon, son of Pat and Tricia Shannon, is in soccer.
