JON WARD: Here's what you may have missed this week on the news.

Former President Trump on social media, suggested that the country's top military leader Mark Milley should be executed, after Milley was described in a lengthy magazine profile as having "protected the Constitution from Trump." Trump's own former secretary of defense, Mark Esper, echoed Milley's concern that Trump may try to throw political opponents into prison, if he regains power.

The White House is preparing federal offices for a shutdown, as Republican lawmakers continue to argue over a bill to fund the government past the September 30th deadline. FEMA has already delayed $2.8 billion in disaster relief, to avoid running out of money if a shutdown occurs.

And House Republicans held their first formal hearing in their impeachment inquiry against President Biden, trying to tie the President to his son Hunter's foreign business deals. The GOP's own witnesses, however, said Republicans have not provided evidence of wrongdoing by President Biden.
