Waltham Board Of Health Votes To Implement Mask Mandate
WALTHAM, MA — The Waltham Board of Health has voted to implement an indoor mask mandate in response to the city’s rising COVID-19 positivity rate.
The mandate, which went into effect on Friday, Dec. 31, requires all individuals ages five and older to wear a mask in all indoor public or private spaces, except where the individual is unable to wear one due to a medical condition or disability.
As of Thursday, Waltham’s weekly COVID-19 positivity rate is at 6.44 percent. Last week’s mask mandate is in accordance with a decision made by health officials in November to implement a public health mandate when the city is at or above a 2 percent positivity rating for two consecutive weeks.
Waltham’s mask mandate will remain in effect until the next Board of Health meeting, where health officials will reevaluate.
