Rick Perry ends presidential campaign, endorses Newt Gingrich

Rick Perry ended his presidential campaign Thursday and endorsed Newt Gingrich's candidacy for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.

At a press conference in Charleston, S.C., Perry called Gingrich "a conservative visionary who can transform our country."

"Newt is not perfect, but who among us is?" Perry said. "The fact is, there is forgiveness for those who seek God." He mentioned the importance of redemption to Christianity.

In an interview with ABC News that is scheduled to be broadcast Thursday on Nightline, Gingrich's second ex-wife, Marianne, says the former Speaker of the House "wanted an open marriage."

At an event in Beaufort, S.C., on Thursday, Gingrich said Perry would lead a "Tenth Amendment enforcement project" for his campaign, "reaching out to every governor in the country of both parties, reaching out to mayors, reaching out to state legislatures and working with conservative legislators in Washington so that we can have a very strong platform plank in Tampa in August on the Tenth Amendment."

Perry, who catapulted to the top of public-opinion polls when he first announced his candidacy last summer, placed a disappointing fifth in the Iowa caucuses and sixth in the New Hampshire primaries, where he received less than 1 percent of the vote.

South Carolina Republicans will vote in the state's primaries on Saturday.

There are three reasons Parry dropped out: a lack of support, contributions drying up, and I can't remember the third reason.

I am not a Rick Perry Fan; however I agree that members of Congress should be under term limitation. The Senators and Representatives are in Congress to push their own means to become wealthy. They are all crooks!

So it's the Final Four: Romney, Santorum, Gingrich and Paul. Who's next?

Term limits aren't all we need, it would help the situation but you want to start somewhere start with leveling taxes against senators, congressmen, and the president as well as any other "public" servant who is tax exempt. Lead by example yeah? Turn public service back to just that "PUBLIC SERVICE" which means you serve the public to make it better, not make your wallet fatter. Take away congress' ability to vote in their own pay raise, one term and done for all public offices then go back to the private sector and actually contribute to the society you live in. Oh yeah and do away with corporate lobbyists. They are killing our country by bleeding it dry from the inside.

It's really really amazing what slim pickens there is for leadership these days. Mind boggling. Why aren't good decent people allowed to step up to lead the public? WHY is it always these blow-dried plastic-faced career politicians that only get in office because they came from old money or went to an Ivy League school? Political candidates used to be hard-working people who believed sincerely in this country- whether or not you completely agreed with their details or their methods they were respectable even as competition. Now political figures are proving to be nothing but business people basically who obviously don't care about the American people, only themselves. WE are the people, right? Are WE really creating these short lists of goofy cartoon characters that we end up having to vote on? WHY don't we have more control? This is OUR country! YOU, Chris next door! YOU, Alice across the street! YOU, neighbor! Are you really for this meager list of options for our country? Why isn't there more to choose from? I know there are ordinary people who would make better leaders than these flapping punchdrunk cartoon puppets with their clique-targeting drama acts. Years ago politicians were depicted as such...but now it seems they really have become just that! Maybe it's the media that's creating them. Maybe it's the media which is really leading everything. THINK about it.
