Romney discusses family’s horses in behind-the-scenes video

In a video released as part of a new column debuted on Tuesday by news and gossip website Gawker, Mitt Romney discusses his family's horses, saying his wife Ann has Austrian Warmbloods for dressage but that he prefers his Missouri Fox Trotter.

The behind-the-scenes video of pre-interview footage features Fox News host Sean Hannity chatting with Romney about riding horses, which is a part of Ann's multiple-sclerosis therapy.

Romney says his breed has "a much better gait."

"It moves very fast, and doesn't tire, and it's easy to ride," Romney says. "It's not boom, boom, boom."

Gawker's new column is called "The Fox Mole," and the site says it's written by a current Fox News employee "who will be providing Gawker with regular dispatches from inside the organization."

The column's anonymous writer claims the conversation about horses will make it much harder for Romney to attack President Barack Obama for golfing, saying horseback riding possesses more "inherent elitism and snootiness" than golf.

Romney and Obama, both Harvard graduates, have lately been trying to portray the other as more out of touch with voters.
