By The Alabama and Mississippi primaries are over, and the meaning of Rick Santorum's victories will be the focus of politics Wednesday. Two key questions that will be chewed on:
- Will Mitt Romney change tactics or shake up his campaign?
- Will Newt Gingrich really stay in the race?
The campaigning for the GOP presidential nomination, of course, does not and cannot let up.
Rick Santorum heads even farther south on Wednesday — all the way to Puerto Rico, which holds its primary on Sunday. Gingrich will be in Illinois, where there is a primary next Tuesday, and Romney will be at a fundraiser at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City. And Ron Paul also will be in Illinois.
The Obama campaign will be busy Wednesday. It will launch the "Nurses for Obama" effort, which targets female voters and urges support for the health care law that goes before the U.S. Supreme Court later this month.
President Obama and UK Prime Minister David Cameron will hold a joint press conference in the Rose Garden at 12:05 p.m. EDT. Topics are expected to include Afghanistan, Iran, Syria and the global economy.
And then there is this: Wednesday marks the 15th anniversary of surgeons at Bethesda Naval Medical Center repairing a torn knee tendon in President Clinton's right leg caused by a stumble at the Florida home of golfer Greg Norman. How is that for an obscure anniversary?
