Weekend in politics: Polls get tighter, campaigning intensifies, and more

Saturday will mark 10 days and counting until Election Day.

The campaigning for the White House? It's intensifying.

The polls? They show a race between President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney that couldn't get much closer.

Obama appears in a half-hour special on MTV on Friday. The obvious mission: Reach out to younger voters. MTV hopes to have a similar session with Romney before Election Day. Meanwhile, Vice President Joe Biden will be campaigning Friday in Wisconsin.

Romney will head to Iowa on Friday and then join running mate Paul Ryan in Ohio. Ryan also will swing by South Carolina and Alabama for fundraisers.

Also worth noting on Friday: First lady Michelle Obama campaigns in Nevada;  Sen. John McCain campaigns for Romney in Virginia; Ann Romney also campaigns in Virginia; Sen. Rob Portman campaigns in Ohio for Romney; and Josh Romney, one of the five Romney sons, campaigns in Colorado.

There's no letup on Saturday. Obama will head to New Hampshire; Biden, joined by his wife Jill, will be in Virginia; Romney will campaign in Florida with Sen. Marco Rubio; and Ryan will begin a bus tour across Ohio. (Remember, no Republican has won the White House without winning Ohio.)

What about Sunday? Romney will be in Virginia, and Ryan will still be on the Ohio bus tour.

Then comes Monday, and that's when former President Bill Clinton joins Obama for campaigning in Florida, Ohio and Virginia. Biden, meanwhile, will be in New Hampshire.

And then there is this: Hillary Clinton turns 65 on Friday. That means she'll be 69 in 2016.
