22-year-old man critically injured in crash on Okeechobee Road

FORT PIERCE — A 22-year-old man was in critical condition following a weekend crash at Okeechobee and McNeil roads, a Fort Pierce Police spokesperson said Monday.

Police at 5:15 p.m. Sunday went to the scene east of Interstate 95 for the single-vehicle crash involving a Chevrolet Silverado pickup, said Larry Croom, police spokesperson.

Croom said it appeared the pickup traveled east when it hydroplaned, crashing into a concrete pole at the intersection’s southeast corner. He said the weather was rainy at the time.

The driver, a 22-year-old man from Fort Pierce, was in critical condition at HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce after the crash, Croom said.

No other information was immediately available Monday.
