It's a boy! Born just after midnight, Oliver Sisk is Ames' first baby of 2024
Oliver Sisk helped ring in the new year Ames' first baby of 2024.
He was born at 12:02 a.m., Jan. 1 at Mary Greeley Medical Center and weighed 6 pounds.
Oliver's mother, Sara Sisk, was surprised to have a New Year's baby. The mom's due date was Sunday, Jan. 14, nearly two weeks after the infant was born. Sisk had a C-section scheduled for Jan. 9, but Oliver decided to enter the world early and right on time for New Year's celebrations.

A road trip disrupted
Sara and her partner, Bobby Sisk, of Hubbard, were driving home from a trip out of town when she started having contractions.
"I was more nervous with him coming early, because he was a little small," Sara Sisk said. "He still is small; he currently weighs 6 pounds and 0.5 ounces."
Despite Oliver's early arrival, hospital staff at Mary Greeley were ready, and the delivery went well. Sara Sisk was very appreciative of the staff who helped her and Oliver.
"The staff at (Mary Greeley) were great," Sara said. "They were very nice, attentive and amazing."
Oliver is adjusting well and is happy to be home with his family. Sara and Bobby Sisk are thrilled to have him home with his 6-year-old brother, Jaxson.
"It will be interesting to celebrate New Year's Day going forward," Sara Sisk said.
She does look forward to it, and anticipates several late-night birthday celebrations.
