Coronavirus: U.S. death toll surpasses 45,000

Over 2.6 million people worldwide have tested positive for the coronavirus, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. More than 183,000 people have died. CDC Director Robert Redfield warned that a second wave of the coronavirus this winter could be even more dangerous as it overlaps with the beginning of flu season.
The United States has more than 840,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases and over 46,000 deaths attributed to the virus. Medical officials in California announced that the first U.S. coronavirus death occurred weeks earlier than originally thought, attributing two deaths on February 6 and February 17 to COVID-19.
