WEST YARMOUTH — Route 28 between Giardino's and Timmy's Roast Beef was blocked off on Tuesday morning, after a detail officer was struck by a vehicle while directing traffic across from the Sunbird Cape Cod Resort at 216 Route 28.

The officer was transported to a hospital by Yarmouth Fire Department.

Yarmouth police said the injured officer was alert when officers and rescuers were on the scene.

A police dispatcher told the Times on Tuesday the incident is under investigation and more information would be released.
