Dr. Marvin Connelly Jr.: Introducing the 2024 Future Black History Makers of Fayetteville

As the superintendent of Cumberland County Schools, I am honored to introduce this year's Future Black History Makers. In partnership with The Fayetteville Observer, for the second year, we proudly showcase a select group of African-American students who embody hope and promise for a brighter future. These students are already making a difference in our community, and their potential knows no bounds.

During a recent event, I had the privilege of meeting these inspiring young individuals. As I presented them with certificates of recognition, a deep sense of gratitude and hope overwhelmed me. Reflecting on the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s words, "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character," I became thankful for our nation's progress. There is more work to be done, but we will get there.
