Young people being driven away

Look no further than Wednesday's Ohio Senate override of Mike DeWine’s House Bill 68 veto to explain why our children with advanced degrees refuse to move back to their home state of Ohio to live, work in, and raise their young families.

Our grandchildren's lives are safer in states that respect theirs and their parents' health decisions. Ohio legislation has overstepped their control and has no right to tell anyone how to manage personal health decisions.

Two Republican women have Trump's card

It’s worth noting two women had the guts to point to Trump’s “emperor’s new clothes.” Liz Cheney named Trump’s culpability in the January 6 insurrection.

Nikki Haley points to Trump’s leadership shortcomings, with constant lies and growing signs of mental decline.

Like Hans Christian Anderson’s tale of a vain monarch, these women have pointed to the obvious. In Anderson’s classic narrative, the people were deluded into thinking their naked king was wearing some wonderful new suit. A mere lad challenged the “blind” masses exclaiming, “He’s not wearing anything!”

Today, the two women want the GOP to see the truth.

Israel not to blame for bloodshed

I am responding to the Jan. 14 letter from Charles W. Hill “The U.S. must shut off the aid spigot to Israel until the genocide stops.”

“A free state for Palestine is the only final acceptable solution for this forever war.” This statement from the Reverend says it all. Final, acceptable solution. Where have we heard that before?

The reverend leaves out any context whatsoever about this war.Oct. 6: There was a cease-fire with Hamas. Hamas broke it by killing over 1,200 men, women, and children, including torture, beheadings, and the burning of families alive. Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and many “innocent” Gazan citizens participated in this capture of hundreds of hostages — babies, entire families, holocaust survivors, and many women who were and are being brutally raped in the tunnels of Gaza.

The barbarism we saw (Hamas filmed it on their GoPro helmets) was the worst against the Jews since the Holocaust.

  • Israel has not occupied Gaza for 19 years. Gaza is free. Israel has a right and an obligation to protect their citizenry. Any civilian deaths are due to Hamas attack on Israel and their well-known tactic of hiding in mosques, schools, hospitals, and among their citizens.

  • Hamas's raison d'êtreis to kill every Jew on Earth. Remember, this is the Hamas that bombed pizza parlors, nightclubs, and buses of innocent Israelis before ruling Gaza.

  • The Reverend then spewed a falsehood with no evidence that the Prime Minister and his cabinet knew for months the attack by Hamas was coming. We Jews and any others knowledgeable of Jewish history know this for what it is: a blood libel.

  • Hamas is holding United States and Israeli hostages. Men, women, children, babies in their dungeons. Dungeons, I might add, built with the billions of dollars given to Gaza to build infrastructure, sewage, electric, schools, and hospitals.

Tens of thousands of rockets have been fired at Israel for the past 23 years. Each rocket fired indiscriminately is a war crime.

The war would end tomorrow if Hamas surrendered and left Gaza. The world would be a better place for Jews and Arabs who have lived under their vicious rule.
