Ketanji Brown Jackson's Supreme Court confirmation hearings: A recap of day 2

The confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson continued on Capitol Hill Tuesday as members of the Senate Judiciary Committee got their first chance to publicly question President Biden's historic pick for the nation's highest court. They did so for nearly 13 hours.

Senate Judiciary chair Dick Durbin, D-Ill., opened the hearing by allowing Jackson to respond to a number of Republican attacks, including the accusation that she is soft on child porn criminals. "Nothing could be further from the truth,” Jackson said.

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, later quizzed the 51-year-old judge on Critical Race Theory, an academic study of racism’s systemic impact that has been assailed by conservatives. If confirmed, Jackson would be the first Black woman to serve on the Supreme Court.
