Man dead in shooting inside golf course office in Indian River County; Suspect in custody

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY −A man was shot and killed inside an office area of a golf course community Monday evening, law enforcement officials said.

Deputies found the man dead with what an Indian River County Sheriff's Office spokesperson said appeared to be a gunshot wound after they were directed to 100 Woodland Drive following a woman's 911 call at 6:43 p.m.

"We have one adult female in custody," said Sgt. Kevin Jaworski. "This appears to be an isolated incident and there’s no threat to the public."

The woman being held by deputies was the suspected shooter, he said.

County property records show several golf course-related businesses are associated with the address, which sits next to apartments and condos on Vista Royale Boulevard off U.S. 1.

Among those with active tax records, are American Golf Club LLC, Vista Golf, and South Florida Golf Inc.

"Our detectives, crime scene and medical examiner's office are on scene," Jaworski said. "This is still very early in the investigation."

He said details about the man's wound or the physical location of the shooting were not yet available.
