Restaurant Week is back in Chillicothe Jan. 15 through 28. Participating establishments are Bell Farms, The Pour House at Machinery Hall, The Dock at Water, and Hometown Hibachi. I heard Hometown is presenting us with RAMEN and a rumor is floating around about a pulled pork pizza being presented by the Dock. I can’t wait to see what dishes the other two have created for this annual event in its fourth year. Thank you for making downtown Chillicothe a fun place to visit. Other fun events are happening this week in our area as well. No need to start out 2024 hiding under a blanket when all of this fun can be had.

Thursday

Down on the Farm trivia is at Old Capitol Brewing at 6:30 p.m. There will be questions on all things agriculture, from farming to food to animals. First place team will be rewarded. It is a jazzy kind of night with local jazz quartet, JRDN & CO, at The Page from 7 to 10 p.m. If you feel like enjoying laughs head down to Jackson and Stockroom601 for my open mic comedy night featuring Lexington’s own Mike Fields. Hosted by me, the mic will feature eleven comics from the region. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. and there is no cover.

Friday

Singer/songwriter Sam Eplin from Huntington, West Virginia takes the Steiner’s Speakeasy stage at 9 p.m. Check out the Tara-crafted winter cocktails while you are there. Karaoke is happening at Wagner’s Roadhouse with DJ Roush from 7 to 11 p.m. Cory Breth takes over the taproom with his acoustic vibe at Old Capitol Brewing at 7 p.m.

Saturday

Start your year at the historic Majestic Theatre with Murphy & Jimmy Clepper. “After moving to Seattle in 2020, Murphy auditioned for the TV show "American Idol" where he became a fan favorite following the performance of his original song "The Painted Man.” Fans of the show cried out at his departure, so much so that it led to him performing in the show’s 2021 finale.” Jimmy Clepper is best known for being the frontman and songwriter behind hip-hop-inspired indie rock band, See You In The Funnies. Tickets are on sale now at majesticchillicothe.net or at the door the evening of the show.

Looking ahead

On Saturday, Jan. 27, The Lonely Ones will be playing live at the Majestic Theatre Chillicothe. They are a four-piece vocal-oriented hard rock band “…with an ear for melody and a taste for success.” Tickets are on sale now at majesticchillicothe.net. While you are there check out all of the shows the theatre has coming up in February.

Creekside Occasions is bringing back bingo on Sunday, Jan. 28. I will be your friendly number caller and proceeds benefit Cats & Company. Details coming soon.

February 10 LoriG Comedy heads to Heroes on Blain Highway for Comedy Night featuring Ian Miller, RJ Creamer, McKenzie Reutinger, and Niki Ryan. No cover, 21 and up.

Until next time. I hope to see you out laughing.
