Each year, Jan. 2 is one of the hardest days to wake up and get back to work after the long holiday.
Many people take off around the New Year. Many start their winter break before Christmas, and that week is reserved for poor eating and sleep habits. It's a perfect way to celebrate, but makes it that much harder to return to the grind.
Good news. A new year brings new holidays to look forward to. So while we're back at work today, let's start to page through the calendar and see when we'll celebrate other big days.
When is Martin Luther King Jr. Day?
The holiday is always celebrated on the third Monday of the year. This year, we will honor the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. on Jan. 15.

When is the Super Bowl 2024?
If you thought waking up today is hard, the next time you're sure to struggle with your alarm is Feb. 12, the day after the Super Bowl.
The game will be played in Las Vegas at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 11. The halftime performer will be Usher.
When is Easter?
Easter is in March this year. We will celebrate on March 31. That means Ash Wednesday will be early this year. Ash Wednesday falls on Feb. 14, which is also Valentine's Day. If you're a practicing Catholic, better make reservations at a seafood joint pretty soon or you might be in trouble.
When is Memorial Day?
Do you miss the sand between your toes and the waves crashing on the beach? You're about five months away from the unofficial start of summer. Memorial Day falls on May 27 this year, which means the beaches will be packed by May 24. Seems far away, but it won't be long!
Summer holidays
Juneteenth, celebrated annually on June 19, will fall on a Wednesday this year. Independence Day, celebrated July 4, falls on a Thursday in 2024.
When is Labor Day?
Arguably the hardest day of the year to wake up is the day after Labor Day, which falls on Sept. 2. That means many schools across the country will start Sept. 3. Not great news for teachers and kids, who love when Labor Day falls toward the end of the first week of September.
When is Halloween and Thanksgiving, 2024?
Halloween falls on Thursday, Oct. 31. Thanksgiving will be late this year. It will be celebrated on Nov. 28.
What about Christmas 2024?
Because 2024 is a leap year, Christmas will skip two weekdays this year. Dec. 25 falls on a Wednesday next year, which means New Year's 2025 is also on a Wednesday.
That will make it a little easier. It's much easier to start your new year at work on a Thursday than a Tuesday.
So just get through this year and 2025 will be a breeze!
