Navin Jones' father given life in prison for child's 2022 murder

Peoria Judge John Vespa called the death of Navin Jones "the worst case he had ever seen" before giving the dead boy's father a life sentence in prison on Wednesday.

Brandon Walker, 42, was given a life sentence for the murder of his 8-year-old son, who weighed just 30 pounds when he was found dead in his family's Peoria home in 2022.

Prosecutors said that Walker and Navin's mother, Stephanie Jones, who pleaded guilty to murder last year, starved Navin and severely neglected and beat the child before his death.

Navin was severely malnourished when he was found dead and had blunt force injuries covering his face, head, arms and legs. He also had ligature marks on his wrists and waist from being tied up by his parents.

Navin was kept locked in bedroom that contained just a dresser, a bed without sheets or blankets, one toy and a foul stench of urine and feces. The bedroom door has been tied shut and a note on the door signaled that the boy was not to be given anything to eat or drink.
