A Colleyville woman is scheduled to be recognized Monday evening for her efforts in saving the life of a 2-year-old boy who had fallen into a pond at a North Richland Hills park in June. Brandi Rowntree pulled the child from the pond on June 9 at Linda Spurlock Park, 6400 Glenview Drive in North Richland Hills, according to a news release from police. After seeing that the child was blue and not breathing, Rowntree began CPR until North Richland Hills first responders arrived and continued efforts to save the boy.
The final giant chunk of an overturned cargo ship was removed from waters along the coast of Georgia on Monday, almost a year after demolition began on the wreck that tipped over with 4,200 automobiles in its cargo decks. Human remains were found in Florida's Carlton Reserve on Wednesday after more than a month of searching for Laundrie, who was a person of interest in the disappearance of his fiancée, Gabby Petito, before her body was discovered in Wyoming. The remains, described as "skeletal" by the North Port Police Department, were confirmed to be Laundrie's after a review of dental records, officials said Thursday. According to the FBI, the remains were found alongside personal items, such as a backpack and a notebook, belonging to Laundrie.

A Central Texas man has been charged with murder in the driveway shooting of a motorist who had pulled into his driveway. Terry Duane Turner, 65, of Martindale, Texas, turned himself in Friday after an arrest warrant accused him of murdering Adil Dghoughi in the early morning of Oct. 11. Investigators said Turner shot the 31-year-old Moroccan immigrant as the man was backing out of Turner's driveway about 3:40 a.m. After the shooting, Turner told a 911 operator that the motorist had pulled a gun on him.
