Officials ID victim killed in Nutley hit-and-run as search for driver continues

Police are searching for the driver in a Nutley hit-and-run Wednesday night that left one pedestrian dead and another seriously injured, authorities said.

The accident happened shortly before 7 p.m. on the 100 block of Milton Avenue near the Garden State Parkway. Winston Perlaza, 22, of Paterson, was identified as the victim who died after being rushed to Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, according to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.

Another pedestrian was also taken to the hospital for medical treatment. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, the Prosecutor's Office said.
